Seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams has been spotted holidaying on Hamilton Island after a shock exit from the Australian Open. The tennis star was forced out of the competition in the opening round after losing to Swiss player Belinda Bencic. However the loss didn’t appear to bother the sports star as she was spotted making a rare appearance with her new millionaire boyfriend Nicholas Hammond.
The notoriously private couple were spotted arriving on idyllic Hamilton Island for a holiday after the 37-year-old tennis ace flew out of Melbourne for some tropical island down time with her younger boyfriend. This is one of only a handful of times the couple have been seen together and although rumours had been swirling, their relationship was only confirmed last month after they were spotted in a public display of affection at a New York restaurant.
The two looked happy and relaxed together as they strolled around the Queensland island, surrounded by a sizable entourage. While her exit from the Australian Open may have been a shock, the fierce sports star seemed to be enjoying the picturesque location surrounded by tropical gardens and her handsome new beau, 25-year-old Hammond.
Heir to Walter Annenberg's TV Guide fortune, Hammond spends most of his time in California and New York but appeared to be enjoying his Australian escape. Although notoriously private, the pair were also spotted together in New Orleans in November where it appeared Hammond accompanied Venus to her sister Serena’s wedding.
According to PageSix, the pair are ‘head over heels for each other’ and regularly meet up in Florida’s Palm Beach to spend time together. The two looked very comfortable together on the pristine beaches of Hamilton Island where they will spend some time relaxing with their family and friends.
